Your Guide

Richard Taylor-Jones is a wildlife television presenter, film maker, cameraman and photographer. He regularly appears on BBC Countryfile, The One Show, Coast and Springwatch. He uses his expertise to capture images of some of the best of British Wildlife.

He first came to recognition with his “Cinematic Landscape Films” which he authored and shot for BBC Springwatch. These pieces were far more artistic and individual than the shows usual content and were widely appreciated and enjoyed by the viewing public, so Richard was commissioned to make them over several series.

Richard has been working in this field for almost 20 years and has an in-depth knowledge of both natural history and all forms of camerawork. He has worked with conservationists, members of the public and some of the industry’s biggest names. His experience and deep appreciation of Britain’s wilder landscapes and British wildlife make him the perfect host for some of our ‘British Wildlife Breaks’.

We are delighted to invite you to an exclusive event to join Richard Taylor-Jones on a specially designed ‘Winter Watch’ day of birdwatching in the southeast Kent countryside and coast to see the Kingfishers featured on BBC Winterwatch & a whole host of other birds!

The day will start at The iconic White Cliffs of Dover, where on a walk of approximately 2-3 miles we hope to see Raven, Peregrine, Fulmar, passing Gannets, various gull species & maybe a few other surprises!

Next we will visit Ramsgate for a walk at the only Royal Harbour in the UK – given this status by King George IV. Our appointment is with royalty of a different kind, the Kingfishers made famous by being featured on BBC Winterwatch.  Hopefully they will grant us an audience on our walk here, then we’ll stop for a hearty pub lunch.

In the afternoon we will go to Stodmarsh National Nature Reserve (NNR) near Canterbury. It is an internationally important mixture of reed beds, fens, ditches, wet grassland and open water and home to a wide variety of special wildlife, especially water birds. Here we hope to see Bearded tit, Marsh Harrier, Bitterns and various waterfowl.

We look forward to Welcoming you to our Winter Watch Walk soon!
