During the weekend we were saddened to learn that Tristan Lafranchis has passed away and our sincere condolences go out to his family & friends.
Tristan was an exceptional lepidopterist, naturalist, and tour leader. In the early years he believed in us and helped Greenwings to take flight – we will always be grateful to him for that.
His tours with us were extremely popular, thanks to the enthusiasm & generosity that he had to share his love & knowledge of nature with everyone.
He always said his favourite butterfly was Cleopatra, so we’d like to share one photographed by a Greenwings guest during Tristan’s first tour with us in Greece in 2013.
His legacy will live on, not least in the numerous books he published on lepidoptera & botany.
