Simeon Gigov is an experienced ecologist, ornithologist and leader of birdwatching, butterfly, dragonfly and natural history tours in Bulgaria and Northern Greece. He is also a dedicated conservationist and has participated in numerous ornithological studies and conservation projects in Bulgaria, such as the establishing of the ecological network Natura 2000 in Bulgaria, monitoring of the wintering population of the Red-breasted Goose in Northwestern Bulgaria, mid-winter waterfowl counts, monitoring of common bird species in Bulgaria and others. With his experience and expertise Simeon has contributed to numerous scientific publications with a practical conservation focus.
Simeon has been guiding birdwatching tours since 2006 and natural history tours since 2011. Currently he is a full time guide and leads more than 15 tours in Bulgaria and Northern Greece per year. Since 2017 Simeon has been leading our annual Butterflies of Bulgaria holiday and more recently has been working alongside our photographer guide on successful summer macro photography tours.
