Juan Carlos Proveda Vera is a passionate biologist and seasoned nature expert based in southern Spain. With a lifelong dedication to conservation, environmental education, and nature photography, he brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to every tour he leads.
An accomplished ecotourism guide, Juan Carlos has led birdwatching, mammal tracking, and botanical tours across Spain and internationally — including destinations like Kenya, Morocco, and Turkey. Whether you’re chasing the shadow of a Lammergeier through Andalusian skies or admiring rare endemic flora, you’re in expert hands.
Specializing in the natural treasures of Andalusia, Juan Carlos knows the region’s parks like the back of his hand. From the butterfly-rich meadows of Sierra Nevada National Park to the raptor-filled cliffs of Cazorla, the bird and lynx habitats of Doñana, and the elusive Iberian lynx of Andújar, his in-depth knowledge guarantees guests not only unforgettable wildlife encounters but also a deeper understanding of the ecosystems and conservation efforts behind them.
Juan Carlos is officially accredited with the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in the Sierra Nevada and has been actively involved in plant conservation programs through the La Cortijuela Botanical Garden, a key site in the Andalusian network of protected natural spaces.
In addition to guiding, he collaborates with the Spanish Ministry of the Environment and the Andalusian Government on various educational and environmental training programs. He also contributes to bird census and conservation initiatives.
Juan Carlos is a proud member of the Association of Ecotourism in Spain (AES) and the Spanish Association of Nature Photographers (AEFONA) — further proof of his commitment to preserving and sharing the natural wonders of Spain.
