Join us on an exclusive photography holiday into the scenic heart of Spain, dedicated to capturing the majestic Spanish Moon Moth and an incredible array of Iberian biodiversity. Just before summer begins, the mixed forests of Scots pine and Pyrenean oak come alive with the emergence of one of Europe’s most magnificent insects—the Spanish Moon Moth (Actias isabellae). With large emerald wings that grace the night skies for only a fleeting few days, this winged jewel is the ultimate prize for macro and wildlife photographers. To ensure an intimate experience and personalized tuition, this workshop is capped at very limited places. You will be guided by an award-winning local professional photographer with over a decade of experience, alongside macro photography specialist Oliver Wright, who also leads our photography trips in Bulgaria and Greece. Together, they will guide you through pristine habitats to photograph wild orchids, vibrant butterflies, and fascinating macro subjects. Each photographer has different but complementary styles, which will give you access to a wide range of possibilities for learning and enhancing your own photography and portfolio. Day 1: Arrival and meet at Barcelona airport. Transfer to our first base where we will stay for 3 nights (27 – 30 May).
Montañas de Prades: Explore rich, mountainous terrain focused on capturing unique insect species and wild orchids.
Day 4. Transfer to our second base where will stay for 2 nights (30 May – 1 June).
Sierra de Albarracín: Venture into the forest surroundings to search for the Spanish Moon Moth and other interesting nocturnal and diurnal species.
Day 6. Transfer to Valencia airport for departures.
Beyond finding and observing these remarkable species, this holiday offers expert, hands-on instruction to help you elevate your field craft and macro technique. Tuition will be tailored directly to your individual experience level.

Recommended Equipment
To get the most out of the workshop, participants should bring:
- Camera body with manual control settings
- Dedicated macro lens or a short telephoto lens
- External flash unit (if available)
- Sturdy tripod (highly recommended for macro setup and focus stacking)
- Plenty of spare memory cards and extra batteries
