Your Guide

Richard Taylor-Jones is a wildlife television presenter, film maker, cameraman and photographer. He regularly appears on BBC Countryfile, The One Show, Coast and Springwatch. He uses his expertise to capture images of some of the best of British Wildlife.

He first came to recognition with his “Cinematic Landscape Films” which he authored and shot for BBC Springwatch. These pieces were far more artistic and individual than the shows usual content and were widely appreciated and enjoyed by the viewing public, so Richard was commissioned to make them over several series.

Richard has been working in this field for almost 20 years and has an in-depth knowledge of both natural history and all forms of camerawork. He has worked with conservationists, members of the public and some of the industry’s biggest names. His experience and deep appreciation of Britain’s wilder landscapes and British wildlife make him the perfect host for some of our ‘British Wildlife Breaks’.

We are delighted to invite you to join Richard Taylor-Jones on a specially designed day centered on the iconic bastions of Britishness – the White Cliffs of Dover!

Explore the wonders of the White Cliffs, enjoy an exhilarating boat ride and see some of the most charismatic British wildlife through the eyes of one of Britain’s most experienced wildlife personalities. It’s just over an hour away from the heart of London by rail or road yet a world of wildlife that you would never have imagined could be found so close to our capital city awaits!

The charming and traditional seaside town of Deal will be our starting point. It is an ideal place from which to explore the area. It is situated on the Kent coast and facing eastwards towards France, which is a mere 25 miles away.

You will get to walk the iconic and world famous White Cliffs Of Dover with Richard, who grew up in this iconic landscape. He will use his local knowledge and experience to guide you to its most spectacular and wildlife rich hot spots.

Living along the cliff faces are peregrine falcons, ravens, fulmars and kitiwakes. Whilst the grassland along the footpaths are strewn with wild flowers and 28 different species of butterfly, accompanied by skylarks, kestrels and corn buntings.

After a hearty pub lunch you’ll be head to Dover Harbour to board a privately charted seal safari boat which will speed you under the cliffs for a unique view of these bastions of Britishness. The destination is Pegwell Bay where a group of common seals have set up, which Richard filmed for BBC Autumnwatch. You’ll spend about 20 mins floating along with these beautiful creatures getting intimate opportunities to photograph these shy animals before jetting off back to Dover as an unforgettable end to your White Cliffs adventure!

This promises to be a fantastic and very popular event – we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment!
